źlab is an applied research lab. We work where a claim about the physical world moves money: what a building really saves, what a separation process really achieves, what a rounding rule really costs. One rule runs through all of it: no claim stronger than its evidence.

A benchmark is not a measurement, and a measurement is not a verified result. Every line of work here climbs the same ladder, from what is assumed to what is observed to what is independently verified, and says where it stands before anyone acts on it.
